The Nacogdoches football team may have been picked to finish third in their district, but their strong returning numbers may write their own destiny.
With 31 lettermen returning, nine offensive starters coming back, and seven defensive starters returning, the Dragons aren't lagging behind in their preparation going into the season.
Last year, the Dragons had just one offensive linemen with experience. That’s not the case anymore which is a huge relief for quarterback Noah Hildebrand.
The second-year starter is now expecting he'll have time on the ball after the snap to make good decisions.
“As soon as I catch it, I can rely on those guys to protect me,” said Hildebrand. “I can get the ball where I need it to go or I can hand it off to Phillip and he can rush wherever. He's unbelievable. I'm really excited about my offensive line this year.”
“They're a year older, they know what's going on, they're comfortable with our system, and I think we're going to be good in the offensive line,” said head coach Bobby Reyes. “We've got kids who are really busting their tails trying to do things right.”
