NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Just because Nacogdoches graduated the best safety in the country last year in Brandon Jones, doesn't mean they've been left empty handed.
Head coach Bobby Reyes thinks he's got one of the best, and biggest defensive lines he's had in Nacogodches, and the back field will be in great hands with Josh Thompson.
The senior defensive back is a commit to Texas after de-committing from TCU. It doesn't hurt he's also got 23 other collegiate offers under his belt too.
For the third straight year the Dragons have been a factory producing Division I defensive backs. Thompson has followed that standard making him more than capable to lead.
"My expectations are to go out and compete, build good team chemistry, and just go out there and play," said Thompson.
"He's got really good instincts. He's got good ball awareness and he's got good hands. He does a great job of catching the ball and he breaks on the ball extremely well," said Reyes. "Josh has gotten stronger. He's gotten thicker and much bigger, and by that his speed has gotten better."
