HUDSON, TX (KTRE) -

Brookshire Brothers employees broke ground on what will be their newest location across from Hudson Middle School.

Chief Operating Officer John Alston said it will be built under the same concept as the Express stores in Apple Springs, Pineland, and Zavalla.

Alston told the crowd that the Express stores have worked well in the smaller areas and have not taken away too much form the bigger stores. Like the other Express stores, the one in Hudson will work to meet the needs of the community.

"This one is going to have a full compliment of fresh meat, fresh produce, and a hot deli," Alston said. "All the core essentials of a Brookshire Brothers store. It's just in a smaller, easy-to shop-format."

The store is expected to be open by January 11, 2017.

Alston said the store will employee between 20 to 25 people.

The opening of the Brookshire Brothers Express store will not mean the closure of the Polk's gas station a short distance up the road.

Alston said the location will remain open.
