1st case of West Nile reported in Deep East Texas

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A case of West Nile disease has been reported in Angelina County, the first in Deep East Texas.

The case in Angelina County is that of the neuroinvasive disease, which is a life-threatening illness.

The case is the 23rd in the state.

The disease cases have also been reported in the counties of Bell, Collin, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Harris, Hunt, Nueces, Runnels and Tarrant.
