Lufkin PD detectives nab suspect in Dallas robbery

From the Lufkin Police Department

LUFKIN, TEXAS (KTRE) - Lufkin Police detectives on Tuesday arrested a man wanted for aggravated robbery out of Dallas after he was tracked to a home on Circle Drive.

Detectives took Dunta Johnson, 44, of Dallas, into custody around noon Tuesday at 905 Circle Drive where he had stayed the night with a friend.

Dallas Police officials notified Lufkin Police Tuesday morning that Johnson fled to the home after shooting an acquaintance in the leg Monday night and stealing a 2013 Dodge Charger from her home. Officers and detectives monitored the area near Coston Elementary until they saw a man come out of the home and begin talking on his cellphone. They detained the man, who was later identified as Johnson's friend.

Johnson was then found inside the home and taken into custody without incident. He was taken to the Angelina County Jail where he is awaiting book-in. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
