LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Lufkin ISD education foundation received a generous donation of ten thousand dollars today that will go towards educational learning.

A portion of last month’s proceeds from the Adams Pro Tour golf tournament at Crown Colony were donated to the foundation on Wednesday.

First bank & Trust East Texas presented by the Lufkin Convention and Visitors Bureau handed the check out at the Crown Colony Country Club.

Lufkin Independent School District Education Foundation president Heather Buchanan said they are very grateful for the contribution.

“We are just so thankful for the funds from these tournaments and what’s so exciting is it’s going to be used to fund innovative teaching grants that will allow teachers to go above and beyond their regular budget to implement new technology and exciting projects that will just cause the level of education here in Lufkin to continue to soar higher and higher. “ Buchanan said.

The organization plans to put the donation to good use by helping to elevate teaching experiences for local Lufkin ISD students.

All the Crown Colony Adams Pro Tour tournament proceeds will be used to help fund innovative teaching grants and new technologies for the Lufkin independent school district.
