NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - SFA is now smoke-free.
The policy prohibiting smoking, e-cigarettes and chewing tobacco began Monday.
About 30 signs are placed around campus to remind returning students of the new rule.
A website has the answers for the new policy and "Quit Kits" are being handed out for those who'd like to kick the habit.
Self-enforcement will be used.
"We kinda modeled ours a couple of other universities in that we are not really concerned ourselves with enforcement piece of it," said Ken Morton, Stephen F. Austin State University's Wellness Advisory Board chair. "Usually when you create a new policy you don't have to do that because once they become aware of it they tend to follow the policy."
SFA is catching up with the universities across the state and nation which enacted smoke-free policies years ago.
