If you're looking for a new pet, you might want to head to the Winnie Berry Adoption Center in Lufkin.
The Humane Society of East Texas is holding an Adopt-A-Thon this weekend. In the first thirty minutes alone, 10 dogs were adopted.
Organizers hope they can adopt out all of their animals before it becomes too late.
Kim Frels of the Humane Society said, "if they're not adopted, the only other alternative is euthanasia and we really don't like to see that happen."
Kim says the animals that aren't adopted will have to be put down. She encourages everyone to have their animals spayed or neutered to prevent situations like that.
If you already have a pet that needs to be spayed or neutered, but are on a low income, you can have the procedure done at Winnie Berry for a reduced price.
