Rodeo Wraps Up With Big Bucks For Local Charities

Saturday night was the grand finale of the Angelina County Benefit Rodeo.

The Expo Center was packed with people looking for a good show, but many of them probably don't realize that it's all for a good cause. The Angelina County Mounted Patrol and Lufkin Host Lions Club put on the rodeo every year, and they end up raising about $100,000 for local charities.

Kevin Langston the President of the Lufkin Host Lions Club said, "the two major beneficiaries are the Wilson McKewen Treatment Center, and the Volunteer Services Council at the Lufkin State School. And the other proceeds we get from the rodeo go to various charities throughout the county."

Members of the Lions Club say over the last several years, they have not only met their $100,000 goal, they've exceeded it.
