CORRIGAN, TX (KTRE) - An East Texas school bent the rules for its student on their first day back Wednesday.
Scratch everything you thought what the first day of school should be like, Corrigan-Camden High School put a unique twist on the day that is usually filled with learning the basic rules.
Students got to participate in fun learning exercises that will help prepare them for the upcoming school year.
One of the activities was a trust walk where students were blind-folded and had to trust their partner's directions through detailed language.
"A lot of students in writing have trouble with detail language, and so I thought that this would help," said Corrigan-Camden High School teacher Sherry Duncan. "It's just something different to get out of the classroom and get to know one another, so I can get to know their personalities."
School officials said they hope activities like this allows students to feel more at ease on their first day.
