LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

An East Texas Church is collecting non-perishable items to help those affected by historic flooding in Louisiana.

The Denman Avenue Baptist Church is sending a team of workers to Jennings, Louisiana to help flood victims get back on their feet.

Church members said most of their time there will be spent working on homes.

The church will be collecting items from until Saturday to take with them.

“If they can bring them to put in that trailer it would be appreciated,” said church member Mike Jones. “They’ve told us if you can bring it, we’ll use it.”

Anyone interested in donating can drop off items in a trailer located in the Havoline Xpress Lube parking lot on Timberland drive from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
