SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Three people were injured in a four-vehicle accident that occurred on State Highway 7 early Tuesday morning, and one of the victims was airlifted to a Shreveport, Louisiana hospital for treatment of his or her injuries.

According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Shelby County DPS troopers responded to and investigated a four-vehicle crash on SH 7 at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The accident occurred near the intersection of SH 7 and County Road 3156 about six miles east of Center.

The preliminary crash investigation shows that a 2008 Dodge SUV was driving westbound on SH 7 when the vehicle suddenly swerved into the eastbound lanes and struck three different vehicles. The driver of the Dodge SUV struck a 2007 Saturn passenger car, a 2014 Chrysler 200,  and a 2016 Nissan SUV.

"The identity of the driver of the Dodge is not available at this time; the next of kin notification has not been made," the press release stated. "The driver was however airlifted from the scene of the crash and transported to a Shreveport hospital for treatment."

The driver of the Saturn has been identified as Randal Allen, 43, of Shreveport, and the driver of the Chrysler was identified as James Daniels, 40, of Center. Courtney Johnson, 24, of Center, was identified as the driver of the Nissan.

Allen and Johnson were both taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for possible treatment. Daniels was not injured in the accident, according to the press release.

The wreck is still under investigation.
