HARDIN COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man has told a Beaumont news station it was his fiance who died while in custody of the Hardin County Jail Saturday.

Tanner Moore told KBMT he had just seen Cody Lane Livingston, 23, of Sour Lake, on Friday.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Stephanie Davis, Livingston was arrested for driving while intoxicated and for an outstanding warrant in the Sour Lake area on Saturday at 6 a.m. He was booked into the jail around 7:30 a.m.

The same day, jailers found Livingston unresponsive in a jail cell and took him to a hospital, where he later died.

Texas Rangers are investigating the death.

Moore said he and Livingston had been engaged since last year, according to KBMT.
