LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Kurth Memorial animal shelter has a firecracker pup named Boomer that lives up to his big name.

Boomer is a one year old American fox hound who with a big heart and a playful puppy attitude.

Shelter Director Aaron Ramsey said that Boomer has a lot of love to give.

“He’s just a big playful fellow; you can tell that he is just a big teddy bear.” Ramsey said.

This energetic fun loving pup came into the shelter a less than a month ago and is now looking for a family that loves to play as much as he does.

He’s very energetic and loves to play fetch, but needs a little work with his return.

Boomer is also well mannered, good with kids and just needs a little bit of light training.

“He’s a sweet guy he loves people he’s minding very well right now so we’re working with him on a leash so he’s kind of starting to learn some of those things like how to walk on a leash, how to sit, it wouldn’t take a lot more work to really get him  to get those commands down.” Ramsey said.

Boomer is full of love and vitality and really needs a home with a wide space for him to play and run around.

And once he has all that energy out, all he needs is a cool shady place to lie down and relax.

Boomer is a dog with an explosive name that’s looking to meet his new forever family.
