Polk County authorities nab jail trusty an hour after he walks away from sheriff's office

LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) -

Authorities in Polk County caught a jail trusty an hour after he walked off the sheriff’s office grounds Friday afternoon.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, John Lee Clark, 50, was working as a trusty at the county’s jail when he walked off the sheriff’s office grounds at about 3:12 p.m. Friday.

With the help of the Livingston Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Polk County District Attorney’s Office and Americare EMS, PCSO established a quick perimeter around the area, and Clark was captured without incident at 4:12 p.m.

Clark was being held at the Polk County Jail on four charges – evading arrest with a previous conviction, theft of property between $750 and $2,500, theft between $100 and $750, and theft of property. A felony escape while arrested or confined charge was added after he was captured.

Collectively, Clark’s bail amount has been set at $28,000.
