Lufkin PD: Woman stole clothes from Walmart, fell in creek

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Lufkin Police Department arrested a 29-year-old woman Monday after she allegedly stole 14 items of women’s clothing from Walmart and fell into a creek after a loss-prevention employee chased her out of the store.

Megan Michelle, Dirk, of Huntington, was booked into the Angelina County Jail Monday on a misdemeanor theft between $150 and $750 charge. She was released later that day after she posted a bail amount of $1,500.

According to the Lufkin Police Department’s daily activity report, the alleged theft occurred at about 12:24 p.m. Monday. 

Dirk allegedly ran out of the Lufkin Walmart with a backpack full of 14 stolen items of women’s clothing valued at $135.63. A loss -prevention employee chased her out of the store and into a creek. She disappeared after she fell into the muddy water.

Lufkin PD officers tracked her down at the nearby Sam’s Club store after someone reported seeing a wet, muddy woman go into the store and head to the restroom.

“She was taken into custody after officers instructed her to come out of the restroom,” the report stated.
