CENTER, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Center Police Department arrested a man and a woman on Sept. 1 after they executed a search warrant on an apartment in the Union Acres complex and found two small children within close proximity of a large amount of marijuana, according to a press release.
The press release East Texas News obtained Tuesday stated that some of the marijuana was pre-packaged, which supported law enforcement officers' belief that the weed was being sold from the apartment.
When a center PD detective executed the search warrant on the apartment, he immediately noticed a large amount of marijuana, the press release stated. Some of the marijuana was pre-wrapped. Police also found two young children within easy access of the marijuana.
The Center PD officers also found and seized $700 in cash.
Maurice Dodd, 28, and Whitney Cartwright, 25, both of Center, were arrested at the scene and charged with delivery of marijuana and child endangerment.
Child Protective Services officials took custody of the two children.
