LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

It has been a busy month for Monte Bostwick.

Bostwick spent the the night meeting many in the community at a special meet-and-greet at the Crown Colony Country Club.

Bostwick has been exploring Lufkin and the Pineywoods for the last month. Bostwick is the new market CEO for CHI St.Luke's Memorial. Mr. Bostwick came to Lufkin from Merit Health in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he served as CEO. Bostwick took over the position after former market CEO Gary Looper announced his retirement.

Bostwick has 15 years of experience in health care and he will work closely with the CHI Texas Division and Memorial leaders, staff, and physicians to enhance healthcare delivery at Memorial and strengthen the quality and effectiveness of services provided to patients and the community.

"Healthcare is very much local," Bostwick said. "One of the attractions for me coming here was the opportunity to partnership with CHI and it's greater footprint all the way down to Houston. Because of  those economies and efficiencies you can get as a system, that was one of the real attractions here."

Bostwick said it has been a fun month in the area and he is working on learning the culture of the Pineywoods. Bostwick is familiar with Texas and small communities but he admitted he was given a shock early on when a deer ran in front of his truck early on for him.
