SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A San Augustine High School student has died following a one-vehicle wreck north of San Augustine Wednesday morning.

Lasharvia Edwards, 16, of San Augustine, died at the scene, located on FM 711, about three miles north of San Augustine.

According to the DPS report, Edwards was driving a 2008 Kia passenger car southbound when she drove off the road to the right, overcorrected to the left and crossed the road and struck a tree and overturned. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car.

San Augustine ISD Superintendent Virginia Liepman said Edwards was a junior honor student at the school.

"She was loved by all who knew her," Liepman said in a statement she released to KTRE. "We extend our deepest heartfelt condolences to La'Sharvia's family, friends and teachers. Our school community has suffered a tremendous loss and we ask your prayers as our student body and faculty grieve her loss."
