The Lufkin Panthers will be playing another group of Panthers from Louisiana this week, as Lufkin will make another appearance in the 6th Annual Battle of the Border Showcase.
Battle of the Borders held a press conference where schools from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and even Florida are playing in this exhibition.
This is the third consecutive year the Panthers have made the trip to Shreveport, Louisiana for the boarder battle. Lufkin has yet to walk away victorious in their last two vests for this game , but the Pack are now a veteran group, who are 2-0 on the year and making this strictly a business trip.
“We're coming over here to win. They're keeping score and we're over here to win the football game. It's going to make us better. The kids are excited and we're ready to go,” said Lufkin head coach Todd Quick. “We like it. It's kind of a playoff type thing with it being on Saturday afternoon. That's when we like playoff games. We're going to treat it like that and use that to be able to get us ready for later in the year.”
Lufkin is set to face Parkway from Bossier City, Louisiana. The Parkway Panthers are 1-0 on their season.
