Former LHS Student Pleads Guilty To Aggravated Assault

A Lufkin High School student accused of beating a fellow student unconscious last year is pleading guilty to aggravated assault.

Javier Ortega will be sentenced after a pre-sentencing investigation.  Authorities say Ortega attacked 17-year-old Gerardo Acevedo in the locker room at Lufkin High School before soccer practice.

Acevedo recovered after several days in intensive care.

Ortega faces up to 20 years in prison.
