TYLER, TX (KTRE) -

Tyler Police officers arrested a 33-year-old man Sunday in connection to allegations that he tried to rob the Donut Palace located at 4007 S. Broadway, Suite C at knife point earlier that morning.

Edward George was booked into the Smith County Jail on a first-degree felony aggravated robbery charge. His bail amount has been set at $100,000.

According to the Tyler Police Department, TPD officers responded to the Donut Palace location at about 4:37 a.m. Sunday in reference about a 911 call about a robbery.

An employee of the store told police that a man had come into the store asking for money. When the victim refused to give him any, that man allegedly returned with a large knife a few minutes later and demanded money from the employee.

The woman called 911, and the man left the store.

When the TPD officers arrived on the scene, they found the suspect, who was later identified as George, in a nearby parking lot, according to the Tyler Police Department. He allegedly still had the large knife in his possession.

George was arrested at the scene and taken to the Smith County Jail.
