LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Over 20 obstacles will test runners from East Texas for the first ever Run for Recovery event in Lufkin.
The event is being put on by Fitlife and will benefit the Lufkin Dream Center. In May, The Dream Center came close to shutting down but a grant from the Temple Foundation kept the doors open. Still, Director Jeremiah Campbell said donations are still needed.
"We do need help still," Campbell said. "Events like this get our name out there. We are a non-profit faith based ministry. Fund raising is vital for us."
The event will have courses for all ages and will even feature a team relay event.
"We have 8 foot walls, we have rope climbs, 4 foot walls, 5 foot walls and big heavy tires," Fitlife owner Casey Adams said. "You also get to hit a car over here. I mean what is a better time then hitting a car."
