SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - An aircraft from the Drug Enforcement Agency found a small marijuana grow operation in San Augustine County on Aug. 31.
On Friday, Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham with the San Augustine County Sheriff's said that they acted on a tip from San Augustine County Sheriff's Office, and the DEA's aviation division found the marijuana grow at a private residence west of FM 1196 and near the Attoyac River.
After the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office got consent to search the property, they found 69 marijuana plants, or about 23 pounds, Cunningham said. He said that it was in a secluded area, but it was an open space with irrigation set up.
Cunningham said they're investigating whether or not they will file charges against the property owner.
