A cool front will bring much needed rain and cooler weather to much of Texas next Monday.
Rainfall totals will range from one-to-two inches on average. Higher amounts will be felt west of the Trinity River.
Temperatures will be noticeably cooler next week.
EAST TEXAS (KTRE) -
Even though the calendar says fall has officially arrived, it still feels like summer in East Texas as the air conditioners continue to get in a good workout.
No need to worry, however, because Mother Nature will catch up to the calendar early next week as our first significant fall cool front will be on our back doorstep next Monday.
When this cool front gets here on Monday, we will see our rain chances skyrocket to 70%. Some of the rain will be heavy at times, leading to one-to-two inches of rainfall on average. Considering we have been fairly dry in the month of September, we could stand to use a nice soaking.
The bigger story will be the falling temperatures as a northerly wind ensues on Monday afternoon. That cool, autumn breeze will bring us our first taste of fall and really drop our temperatures as we go through the middle of next week.
We will see lows in the lower 60's with daytime highs only reaching the 80 degree mark. For those of you that have been waiting on autumn, it looks like your wish will be granted early next week.
