Four men arrested after robbing a convenient store in Woodville

WOODVILLE, TX (KTRE) - Statement from Sheriff Bryan Weatherford:

On Sunday, September 25, 2016, at approximately 5:33am, Tyler County Deputies responded to a burglary in progress call at the Quick Way Convenient Store, located just east of Woodville at the intersection of HWY 190 at FM 1746.

A witness, who knew the store to be closed, told dispatchers that 3 black males were observed inside the store wearing masks and that a red pickup was parked in front of the store. At approximately 5:35am, Tyler County Deputies and Woodville Police Officers attempted to conduct a Felony Stop on the red pickup as it left the store, dragging 2 door burglar bars attached by a tow-strap to the pickup.

The pickup left at a high rate of speed traveling west on HWY 190 into the City of Woodville. At the corner of HWY 190 at Beaver Street, the suspect vehicle lost control and crashed into a street pole. Officers observed 4 black males running from the vehicle and a foot-pursuit ensued.

A short time later, all 4 subjects were taken into custody. All 4 are from Houston, 1 individual is wanted out of Harris County for Felony Assault, 1 individual is on Parole and another individual is a documented Gang-Member. All 4 Subjects remain in the Tyler County Jail facing Felony Charges.

Two officers remain in a Woodville and Lufkin hospital with non-life-threatening injuries suffered during the arrests. Investigation still ongoing.  Pickup appears to be stolen out of the City of Woodville. Identification of arrested individuals will be released once the investigation is complete.
