NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

The Nacogdoches Independent School District held an academic showcase on Thursday where they discussed the challenges being faced with student performance.

The district reviewed state test scores from the 2015-2016 school year.

Members went back through 3 years worth of data to help determine steps needed to be taken at the campus, classroom and district level to help improve student academic performance.

Sami Kinsey with the district’s curriculum and instruction department said it’s important to bring this information to the public’s attention.

“We want to share with the community that we are making gains but we also know we have a lot of work left to do at some of our campuses, so it’s really an open visible, so they understand this is what we’re doing really well in but these are the areas we need to keep improving on.” Kinsey said.

You can check out a recorded version of the showcase on the districts website as well as on their YouTube channel.
