NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

You may have been one of the thousands who have received a ballot by mail for Election 2016.

Election administrators on the go have already sent the first group of requested ballots.

In Nacogdoches County, sharing election news fast and easy is another priority.

Election Administrator Todd Stallings tends to head to a computer with his questions.

"I first go online to see if I can do it myself or figure it out myself,” Stalling said.

Stallings knows he isn't alone. That's why he had two objectives when updating the election information website.

"Easy to understand and not overly complicated,” Stallings said. “Easy to navigate and fast."

The county's computer server and the expertise of John Ericson, the director of computer services, provided a head start to reaching the goals.

"This website was completely designed by me, so we're not using any pre-defined template,” Ericson said. "And we're in complete control of its content."

Stallings provides and updates that content whenever needed.

"Someone clicks on it,” Stallings said as he demonstrated how to navigate the website. We've got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight main categories."

Each category provides answers to the most frequently asked questions like where do a I vote. 911 Addressing and Mapping provided numerous maps to help voters find the answer.

"This would be Voting Precincts 30, 31 and 32,” Ericson said.

There's even an interactive map that helps you with voter information. Over 2,100 people have utilized the site. Use is expected to grow closer to Election Day. So far, the phone-in election headquarters has been relatively quiet.

"Of course, that's nice for us because we can focus on other things, but we're certainly here to answer the phone if somebody needs us,” Stallings said.

Quick and efficient service, no matter how it's conducted, is the goal during Election 2016.

The League of Women Voters conducted a statewide county website survey for voter and election information. Nacogdoches County received an Excellence Award, scoring particularly high in the ease of navigation category.
