HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) -

Huntington students found a unique way to fly the American flag during the pre-game festivities against Shepherd Friday night.

The students used a new drone that their technology classes have to bring the flag into the stadium. Before it was brought in, fans from both teams held a moment of silence and honored veterans and current service members in the crowd.

The drone was flown by students Brinnin Werner and Kevin Carter.

"This was a really great thing the kids did," Shane Stover said. "It was good to see it worked."

Stover said the students had been practicing for several weeks to make sure that the plan would work. The flag was flown in from the south end of the stadium and then made it to mid-field before  circling the north end zone and heading back south.
