Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week: Give and take

From Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers

LUFKIN, TEXAS (News Release) - Wearing a blood donor shirt while stealing a bike seems to make the person both a giver and a taker. Well, that's what you'll see in this week's Crime of the Week case.

Two men walked through the Sound Techs parking lot in Lufkin and saw a bicycle on the back of a Jeep. Initially, they walked away but a moment later one of them, the one wearing a blood donor's T-shirt, went back for the bike. He quickly disconnected it from the Jeep's carrier and rode southbound along South First Street to meet his friend. The racing-style Bianchi bike is painted black and turquoise and worth $7,000. but it's possible the men had no idea of its value and took it just because it wasn't bolted down.

Video of the theft is posted at Even with the grainy quality of the video, anyone who knows the thieves will be able to identify them.

When the video was rewound to a few minutes prior to the theft, an 80s model blue Dodge truck with a camper shell is seen driving through the parking lot. It paused near the Jeep then drove away, and investigators want to know if they saw or know the suspects.

If you can identify the thieves, and you don't believe that donating blood offsets theft, submit an anonymous tip at or by calling (936) 639-TIPS. Calls and tips directly to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and a tip that leads to an arrest or the recovery of the bike might be eligible for a reward
