DARE Graduation May Be The Last For Angelina County

East Texas now has about 600 more students officially committed to being drug free.

The annual DARE graduation honored those kids Thursday for making that pledge. Unfortunately, it could be the last DARE graduation for Angelina County.

Last year, the county had an option to either fire some employees or cut the DARE program -- and it was the DARE program that got the ax.

Angelina County started funding the DARE program more than three years ago when federal grants for the program ran out.

Getting rid of DARE will save the county $63,000 a year. County leaders have until May 31st to come up with funds to extend the program.
