HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) - Huntington ISD honored the man that is responsible for bringing football to the small town in front of almost a full Red Devil Stadium.
Former head coach Jack Churchhill was presented a plaque from the district before the start of the game against their rivals from Diboll. Churchhill came to the program after coaching stops in McKinney, A&M Consolidated and Corpus Christi. The school got their first win in the program's history in 1983 when they beat West Sabine 42-16.
Since leaving Huntington, Churchill has retired to his home in Caldwell.
