Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week: Coin-op crooks

From Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers

LUFKIN, TEXAS (News Release) - The vending machines at gas stations in Lufkin and Nacogdoches were convenient targets for two crooks at the end of last month.

The pair, a man and a woman, drove a small, blue, four-door car with black wheels. Cameras at one station show both opening the vending machines. Video from another store shows only the man, but he drove the same car and movement inside the car indicates he had a passenger. Portions of the videos are posted at

The vending machines were not forced open so the crooks had a way to unlock or bypass the locks. They took the cash from the machines but returned the cash boxes to delay discovery of their crimes.

The man and woman are white, and both appear to be smokers. The woman is recognizable by her long, blonde hair; worn in a ponytail, and her hair reached to the middle of her back. She is short, standing only a head taller than the roof of the car, and overweight. The man's description is difficult to make out from the videos, but his hair is short, possible balding on top, and he might have facial hair.

Fingerprint evidence will link the crooks to the crimes but you can still help investigators by naming the burglars. If you can identify the crooks, submit an anonymous tip at, use the P3 Tips app, or by calling (936) 639-TIPS. Calls and tips directly to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and a tip that leads to an arrest might be eligible for a reward.
