From Timberland Healthcare
CROCKETT, TEXAS (News Release) - Timberlands Healthcare is proud to announce the official acquisition and subsequent name and logo change of Houston County Medical Center, the primary hospital of Crockett, Texas. As of Oct. 1, HCMC now operates under the name of Timberlands Hospital.
"We chose the name Timberlands Hospital because of the strong, illustrious timber forests near Crockett," said Jeff Madison, CEO of Timberlands Healthcare. "We wanted our hospital to represent that same strength and prosperity that the timber forests bring to East Texas."
To complement the hospital's new name, its new logo is of two timber trees. The colors of those trees match the colors of Timberlands Healthcare's parent company's colors: dark blue and light green.
"We want to continue to connect the Timberlands Hospital to its roots with Little River Healthcare," Madison said.
Most of the hospital's approximately 250 employees and 17 providers are now employees of Timberlands Healthcare. Timberlands Hospital is a 49-bed hospital that primarily serves Houston County and its surrounding communities. Services there include a 24-hour emergency department and inpatient and outpatient services such as surgery and diagnostics. Since Little River Healthcare began managing the hospital in April 2016, it has added interventional cardiologist Dr. Philip Myatt, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Cliff O'Meara, and Ob/Gyn Dr. Daniel Dawson.
"We plan on continuing to add more specialists and services at Timberlands Hospital so that the people of Houston County no longer need to leave the county to receive quality, professional medical care," Madison said.
A public event to celebrate the Timberlands Hospital change of ownership and name will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hospital lobby. Events include a public health fair and a meet-the-doctors booth. Lunch will also be provided. A press conference will be held for the media to attend.
