LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin native made her way back home to perform with an elite orchestra out of Houston.
Singing has always been a passion of Hannah Roberts.
"I started singing even before I could speak," Roberts said. "I was making up words, singing along with the radio, and I found that throughout school from an elementary age, anything I can get involved in that was musical or dramatic, I just had to be a part of it."
Now she gets to be a part of a bigger picture. The Lufkin Native said after high school she followed her dreams, which took her to New York, Houston, and now back home.
"They're all so welcoming and they've seen me grow up here, so to come back and show them what I've made of my life is really exciting," Roberts said.
Although the soprano singer has performed with orchestras in the past, she's excited to sing with Mercury, the award winning orchestra.
"I haven't performed with any orchestra of this caliber," Roberts said. "To sing solo music on this level is new for me."
Roberts said her performance with the composers is one you don't want to miss.
"There is an energy when you're experiencing music in real time with the players that are on stage," Roberts said. "You don't get energy when you listen to music. These songs are really exciting. They showcase the voice very nicely."
You can catch Hannah Roberts and the Mercury Chamber Orchestra live at the Temple Theater in Lufkin on October 25.
The show begins at 7:30. Tickets are between $30 and $45.
