Police release name of Lufkin woman killed in Tuesday wreck

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police have released the name of a Lufkin woman who died in a two-vehicle wreck near the Lufkin zoo on Wednesday.

Juanita Hernandez, 56, died at the scene, which was on Loop 287 at the Martin Luther King Drive intersection.

According to the Lufkin police report, Hernandez was the passenger in a 1999 Pontiac car driven by Armando Zamora, 59, of Lufkin. They crossed in front of a westbound 2001 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Dee Mark Alan, 27, of Center, and Alan T-boned their car.

Zamora is in intensive care at a Tyler hospital. Alan was treated for injuries at a Lufkin hospital. Those injuries are not considered life-threatening.
