Affidavit: Crockett man threw bottle at woman, chased her with machete

CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Authorities arrested a 32-year-old man Monday in connection to allegations that he threw a bottle at a woman and then chased her around her car with a machete in his hand.

Kevin James Woolbright, of Crockett, was arrested and charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the arrest affidavit, a Crockett PD officer spoke to the alleged victim on Monday about an incident that occurred the day before. The woman told police that when she dropped Woolbright off at his home, he seemed to be "high" on some type of narcotic, the affidavit stated.

The alleged victim told police that she wanted Woolbright to get out of her vehicle, but he refused. At that point, she opened the door for Woolbright to get out, and he allegedly said, "Remember the last time I saw you I was going to kill you."

Woolbright then chased the woman with a bottle and threw it at her, the affidavit stated. The woman told the Crockett PD officer that Woolbright walked toward his porch and returned with a machete in his hand.

According to the affidavit, the alleged victim ran back toward her vehicle and tried to leave. Woolbright allegedly ran toward her and struck the top part of her driver's side door twice, making two deep cuts before the woman drove off.

The affidavit stated that Woolbright threatened the alleged victim with "imminent bodily injury by chasing {her} around her vehicle" and used a machete during the assault.
