CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - An 84-year-old man died in a wreck involving two vehicles on U.S. Highway 287 about two miles north of Crockett Friday morning.
The man's SUV rolled over after he took evasive action to avoid a pickup that had stopped near a construction crew.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the preliminary Crash investigation shows that Francis William Seeley, of Crockett, was driving a 2006 Mercury Mariner south on US 287 when he came upon a 2005 Ford pickup that had stopped in the road near a construction crew that was off the highway.
Seeley tried to avoid hitting the Ford by talking evasive action to the right, and he was ejected when his SUV rolled over, the press release stated. Justice of the Peace Ronnie Jordan pronounced Seeley dead at the scene.
After the wreck, the driver of the Ford pickup left the scene. He was later located in Crockett and identified as Christian Cardenas Montoya, 22, of Honduras.
Montoya was arrested for failure to stop and render aid, which is a felony, and taken to the Houston County Jail.
