NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

In Nacogdoches County, incumbent Republican Jerry Don Williamson is up against Libertarian Joe Allport, a newcomer to local politics.

"I've got right years’ experience and a lot of knowledge of the inner workings of the county, which the new candidate does not have,” Williamson said. “He does not understand how county government works. I learned the inner workings of the county, and I just try to maintain them."

"I believe that I'm a problem solver,” said Joe Allport, the Libertarian candidate for Pct. 1 commissioner. “I think some of these issues, the county roads, the funding, the jail problem, those aren't new issues. They're old issues. I'm new. I'm a problem solver and I'm ready to come to the commissioners court and be a team player and help them fix it."

Remember you can vote early until November 4th, or you can wait until Election Day on Tuesday, November 8th. You can find specific voting information for your county on ktre.com or our mobile app by clicking on the Big Red Box.
