EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - One person was killed Tuesday afternoon when a semi-trailer and a truck hauling a mobile home collided.
About 1 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 79, near the the Neches River bridge in Anderson County.
According to DPS Trooper Thomas Bledsoe, a red 18-wheeler was heading south toward Jacksonville on Hwy 79. A second 18-wheeler, carrying half of a mobile home for Clayton Homes, was headed north on the highway, headed from Waco to Monroe, Louisiana.
The 18-wheeler hauling the mobile home jack-knifed in the highway, and the first 18-wheeler struck the mobile home, which then exploded, according to DPS.
The driver of the truck hauling the mobile home was killed. He has been identified by DPS as Dickie Duckworth, 39, of Van Zandt County. The man driving the other truck was taken to Palestine Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
