LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial is hosting an expo Thursday to help educate East Texans on what you need to know about diabetes.
The event is called This is Diabetes. It's one of the many ways CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial is bringing awareness to the disease during National Diabetes Awareness Month.
Several vendors will offer free samples, coupons, and screenings.
Since diabetes is prevalent in East Texas, organizers said this is a good time to educate yourself.
"Thirteen to 15 percent of East Texans have diabetes," said CHI St. Luke's registered dietitian LeAnne Anderson. "Education and learning how to manage the disease is very important. So this is an opportunity to find out some of the resources that are available here."
If you'd like to attend the Diabetes Expo, you can check it out Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is being held in CHI Health St Luke's Memorial's main lobby in Lufkin.
