SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A San Augustine County convenience store has sold Wednesday night's winning $20 million Lotto Texas ticket.

On Thursday morning news spread throughout the quiet little town that the winning lottery ticket was sold at the Chevron gas station on Highway 103.

A store manager at Sunshine 3 confirmed they had sold the ticket.

Gas station regional managers Amber and Amin Rajani said they couldn’t believe it.

“We were speechless actually” Amber said.

“This has never happened to this community at all actually and we’re so excited.” Amin said.

The winning Texas Lotto ticket was purchased between October 30th and November 2nd before the winning numbers were announced.

Day Manager Jean Hargrove said it’s a special day.

“It’s really exciting for us that somebody in this area has finally won and it means a lot for all of the customers that come in here to know that it’s possible.” Hargrove said.

The identity of the winner is still unknown at this time, but it’s hoped that the individual will come forward soon.

The winning numbers were 3-4-29-31-33-50. According to the Texas Lottery website, the ticket was sold in the 900 block of State Highway 103 West

The store is also expected to receive one percent of the winnings for selling the ticket, which is about two hundred thousand dollars. That comes out to approximately one hundred fifteen thousand dollars after taxes.

“We are still waiting to hear from the Texas Lottery, we haven’t heard anything else, we just heard from the representative that we had won.” Amber said.

This big win is one for the record books for a small town like this in East Texas and the hope is that this special day will now give San Augustine more recognition in the future.

“We’ll be getting banners and special supplies from the Texas Lottery that will show everybody passing by that we have sold the winning lottery ticket.” Amber said.

And it’s already got people stopping by the gas station like lotto player Donna Goad feeling lucky.

“We had to of course buy a ticket because we heard the great news that happened here.” Goad said.

Information on the person who bought the ticket is not yet available.

The winner has 180 days to claim the winning ticket.

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
