HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) - Huntington High School gave a special salute to those who served on Veterans Day.
On Friday, the school hosted their 21st Veterans Day program. Hundreds of veterans from across the state came out to the event.
Students say they enjoyed decorating the school with patriotic symbols and pictures before the veterans arrived.
Veterans Day originated as "Armistice Day" on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I.
Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.
