LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Commissioners Court has selected four candidates to interview for the soon-to-be-vacant court-at-law position.
County Judge Wes Suiter said the court will interview former District Attorney Clyde Herrington and Lufkin attorneys Johnny Weismuller, Todd Kassaw and Al Charanza next Monday.
Suiter said he hopes the court can make an announcement to fill the position on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
Suiter said he received resumes and letters of interest from seven candidates.
"I would anticipate based on the qualifications and experience of these four candidates that the commissioners court will be able to make a decision as to who will fill that position for the unexpired term," Suiter said.
The named candidate will replace Derek Flournoy, who has announced his resignation in the county court-at-law position, effective Jan. 1.
