Man crashed car into Lufkin pizza business, arrested for felony DWI

Officers with the Lufkin Police Department arrested a 57-year-old man on a felony driving while intoxicated charge after he drove his car into the Little Caesar’s restaurant on North Timberland Drive Monday night.

Gustavous Leroy Mark, of Apple Springs, is still being held in the Angelina County jail on a third-degree felony DWI third or more charge, two Class C misdemeanor failure to appear charges, and three misdemeanor traffic charges. Collectively, his bail has been set at $2,500 for the misdemeanor charges.

According to the Lufkin Police Department’s Facebook page, the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. The incident broke out the store’s front window.

No one was injured, according to the LPD Facebook post.

Mark admitted to drinking two or three beers earlier in the day, the Facebook post stated. He told police that he accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal.

According to the Angelina County Jail web site, Mark has been arrested 23 times since June of 1993, and his charges have included possession of a controlled substance, DWI, assault, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen weapon, forgery of a financial institution, possession of a dangerous drug, and assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
