SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) -

The City of San Augustine has issued a boil-water notice for all of is residential and commercial customers.

According to a press release, customers are urged to bring water to a rolling boil for three minutes and then let it cool before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, preparing food and baby formula, making ice, and watering pets. Customers may also get water from another legitimate source or buy bottled water.

Even though the City of San Augustine's water is not approved for drinking unless it is boiled, it has been treated and is approved for bathing and washing clothes.

The advisory will remain in effect until the City of San Augustine is confident that there is no longer a public health concern. City officials will provide the next update as soon as the permanent repair has been made and the water has been tested and approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
