LUFKIN, TX (Press Release)- It was vintage Lady Roadrunner/Byron Coleman basketball: Play stifling defense and score off the turnovers.
Angelina College forced 32 turnovers, scoring 25 points off those miscues, and La’Neique Nealey extended her double-double streak as the Lady ‘Runners beat LSU-Eunice 93-49 Tuesday night at Shands Gymnasium.
Nealey finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds, adding three steals and three assists into the stat mix. Erin Sanchez added 10 points, Kennethah Harden nine and Karley McHenry eight in the win.
The Lady Bengals got 16 points from Jaleya Gold and eight from Gabby Harrington.
AC’s 17-2 run in the first quarter put the Lady Roadrunners in control early. In that quarter alone, AC forced 12 turnovers to build a 37-15 lead after 10 minutes.
The Lady Roadrunners (5-2) get the rest of the week off before opening conference play Tuesday night at home against Paris College. Game time is 6 p.m. at Shands Gymnasium.
