VIDEO: Man Facebook Lives heroin overdose rescue in Sandusky

SANDUSKY, OH (WOIO) -

A man in Sandusky Facebook Lived the tense moments when paramedics arrived to save two men who had overdosed on heroin.

Eddie Wimbley was in the parking lot of the McDonald’s by Cedar Point when he saw a man passed out on the ground next to a car. Another man was passed out in the driver’s seat.

Witnesses were able to wake up the man in the driver’s seat. Paramedics assisted the second man. Both men were taken to Firelands Hospital in unknown condition. 

The Sandusky County Police Chief spoke out Tuesday at a community forum about the growing problem of heroin in the town, with more than 20 overdoses in the last two weeks and four suspected overdose deaths.

"There's a lot of times the user doesn't know what they're putting in their body,” he said. “They suspect they're buying heroin and it's fentanyl or carfentanil or whatever the drug is. So, they're playing Russian roulette.”

Police on scene said there have been over 180 overdoses in Sandusky this year.
