NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Two big holiday shopping events are underway in Nacogdoches. And the good news is there's still one more day left.
The Nacogdoches Junior Forum's Holiday In the Pines had a sold out crowd for last night's VIP HIPville.
The vendor shopping fair resumed Friday and continues until 8 p.m. tonight at the Nacogdoches Expo Center. It picks up again tomorrow morning.
Also, continuing tomorrow is Ten-Thousand Villages at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Handcrafted items from around the world are on display and for sale. Both shopping events raise money for charitable causes.
"Ten Thousand Villages is a wonderful worldwide organization that provides a good price for artisans' projects from all around the world," said Bobbie Ann Anderson, a 10,000 Villages volunteer. "So instead of working in a factory and earning pennies from making something, they earn a true value of their product that they make."
"All of our proceeds go back into the community, so every time you purchase a ticket you're actually going and putting money back in your community," said Jennifer Sowell, the 2016 Holiday in the Pines chair. "Last year the junior forum gave over $66,000 in scholarships and grants."
HIPville is open at the Nacogdoches Expo until 8 o'clock tonight. Gates are open from nine to five tomorrow. Tickets $7 dollars.
Ten Thousand Villages is open from 9 a.m. to noon at Westminster Presbyterian Church. There's free admission.
