LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Officers with the Lufkin Police Department arrested a 39-year-old man Thursday in connection to allegations he fired a gun in the direction of his neighbors Thursday morning.

Jose Luis Rodriguez is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a third-degree felony deadly conduct – discharge of a firearm charge. No bail has been set yet.

Lt. David Young with the Lufkin Police Department said the incident occurred at a home in the 800 block of Kiln Avenue at about 8:38 Thursday morning.

Witnesses told police that Rodriguez walked out his front door and fired a handgun in the direction of his across-the-street neighbors. Young said the witnesses also said Rodriguez didn’t fire the gun into the air; he fired it “parallel to the ground.”

No one was injured, and know property was damaged, Young said.

A gun and several shell casings were recovered from Rodriguez' home, Young said.
